Transportation from Rome to Portovenere

What is the best (quickest) mode of transportation to get to Portovenere from Rome? I've been searching several sites and see that I could possibly take a train from Rome to La Spezia and then take a boat to Portovenere. However I've not been able to find a good site to find Train Schedules/Boat Schedules. Is there one place I can look online for this info? Thank you.

Train schedules are on www.trenitalia.com or www.bahn.de.
There are frequent local buses from La Spezia station to Portovenere. The boat service is on www.navigazionegolfodeipoeti.it.

Good advice from GeoffHamer...I've done it: Train to La Spezia, bus to Portovenere. Not complicated at all.

It's not that far from LaSpezia train station to Portovenere. If I remember it takes 20 - 30 minutes by cab. That's how we traveled once we arrived at the train station. There were 7 of us and lots of cabs available just across the street from the station. We needed 2 cabs and negotiated a good price for the ride. I really am unsure what we paid, this was 2002, maybe something like 15 - 20 Euros??
