Transportation from Munich airport to Marriott on Berliner Strasse 93?

We will be arriving in Munich, by train from Vienna, on July 31, '07, midday, and will be staying at the Marriott on Berliner Strasse (thanks to our daughter's Marriott points). What is the best and easiest way to get from the train station to that hotel?

Also, what would be near the hotel for us to see...or should we take a short tour to get an overview of Munich. Our plane leaves for the US the next morning, so we don't have much time, unfortunately. Thanks for any information.

See if one of the All-Zones Day Tickets sold by MVV, the transit authority, suits your plans. They're valid from when you buy them until 6AM the next day, so if you get up and out early the day you depart, you might be able to span both airport trips with the pass. (You'll have to check when the first trains run, of course.) tinyurl.com/2spqe3

Your best route would be S-Bahn 8 from the airport to Marienplatz, then U-Bahn 6 to Nordfriedhof. Here's a map of the neighborhood: tinyurl.com/2ogffq

Having tried both the S Bahn and the Lufthansa bus, I use the bus.

It leave from two places at the airport and goes with one stop to the main station. The only stop is at Nordfriedhof.

The bus is more comfortable to ride and your luggage is locked up under the bus.

I tried the S Bahn once and said "Never again."

How does the price of that bus compare with the Partner Day Ticket (18€ for up to 5 adults) which includes the airport run plus unlimited transport all over town?

Why don't you simply ask your hotel??

The difference in price is inconsequential. After an all night flight, the bus is my choice. Cost?
Not out of line and, frankly, immaterial given the difference.

If I wanted to pinch pennies, I would stay at home.

Jeez, I wonder what the fare is and get the Spanish Inquisition. I didn't expect that.

With five in my family, the effect of an extra few euro here or there adds up to hundreds of dollars. The really well-to-do reserve a limo, but I won't begrudge you the bus ride.

If I wanted to stay at a Marriot, I'd stay home.

I guess I thought I was being attacked for taking the bus. If not, then my apologies.

The bus does not offer the discounts you can get on the S Bahn and the U Bahn.

If I were paying for 5, my thinking would be quite different. As it is, I am not.

Thanks for all the information, it really helps us, as this is our first trip to Europe.

To Curious: I will email the hotel to see what they say about transportation..nothing on their website though.

To LarryinColorado: I am so happy that you are staying home and won't be at the Marriott with us.
