Transportation from Airport (Fiumicino) to Hotel...

Hi. Should we take a taxi from Fiumicino to the hotel ( which is by the Spanish Steps)? Arrange transportation ahead of time? Or can that be booked at the airport? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Alternatively... last fall, we jumped onto the waiting EasyJet bus to Termini (free), bought metro passes at the train station, and then metro'd to our stop at Piazza del Popolo. Cheap, straightfoward even for newbys like us, but probably took longer that the above-mentioned limo service. Cheers, Linda

Hi
We recently returned from Rome. Arranged my limo booking when I booked the hotel room via e-mail. We were charged 50EUR and our hotel was by the Pantheon. Very good service.

I would try to use one of the services mentioned above. We used a taxi last week to our hotel(also close to the Spanish Steps) and was charged 45 euros...then the cabby added another 34 euros as an "airport supplement" - total for the ride 79 euros! Needless to say, my husband was furious. On the return trip to FCO, we used Airport Connection Services and paid 25 euros for the 2 of us. We shared the shuttle with another lady but you can arrange a private car with the same company for 39 euros (taxes incl.). Contact email: [email protected]. Website: www.airportconnection.it

Hi belle,

The Leonardo da Vinci Express train takes you from FCO to Rome TE for 9.5E pp. Trip takes 1/2 hr.

You could then cab to your hotel.

Belle, how many are in your group? If it is more than one is better in the long run to take the limo service for Euros 42 up to four people..If you are by yourself than the train and taxi is cheaper..Of course ,if you want to be comfortable then ,use the other option..

the train from FCO to Termini is fast and inexpensive, and it's very easy to taxi from Termini to your hotel. BUT, if you do this, be sure to read the post on this forum titled "What to do if shaken down by cabbie in Rome"--it contains some good advice based on unfortunate experiences.
