Rome FCO to Piazza Navona - service, cab or metro?

Hi all,

Travelling w/ 3 others into FCO. Can anyone tell me how easy is it to get from FCO to Piazza Navona using public transportation? I noticed neither of the train lines go near the Campo/Navona area but maybe the buses do? On the other hand, I was quoted anywhere from 75-100 euro for car service which is understandibly more expensive for four people. Based on everyone's experience, is it worth it to shell out more and use a service to drive the (4) of us directly, or is public transpo convenient enough?

Limo Service Rome is 52 euro for 4 people. They will wait outside of the baggage claim area with a sign with your name on it and take you to your hotel. Much easier than taking the train to Termini(8.50 euro each) and then trying to find other tranportation (? euro) to your hotel. http://www.limoservicerome.com/Servi...nd%20rates.htm

While I've always done a car service in London and always done a taxi in Paris, I've been perfectly happy with taking the train right from the airport in Rome to Termini station, then catching a taxi to my hotel.
When there were four of us meeting at Rome airport coming from two different locations, we did arrange a car service (mini van) which was about $75, but when the one plane was delayed (24 hours!) it was sure expensive for the two of us to take that prearranged mini van.

There have been some reports here of people mentioning newer car services in Rome, however, that might make it worthwhile, especially for four. You might do a search.

I believe the FCO train/shuttle to Termini stops in Trastevere which is a very short bus or cab ride to Largo Argentina/Navona. I can't deal with all that schlepping so I rely on a car service.

You should check out Airport Connection Service. E-mail them for info: [email protected]

They provide shared van service to the city center at a reasonable price.

You can take the express train in from FCO to Termini (every half hour, can't remember the cost but it wasn't expensive - you can find it on the FCO website). From Termini, it's a quick and cheap cab ride to the Piazza Navona area. The metro won't really get you that close to Piazza Navona. (rome's metropolitana is limited.)

We have taken the train from FCO to Termini, and then a cab to our place.
That was survivable even with two tired teens.
But, we have also just taken a cab into the center from FCO.
That has cost us (3 and 4 persons) about 60E for the trip.
I prefer this way as I find the flight tiring and just want to GET THERE!

Are you all doing the math out there? If the train fare is 8.50 euro per person as kybourbon says it is (and that sounds right), then you've already paid 34 euro for four people just to get to Termini. Add the big schlepp inside the terminal to get to the taxis and the cost of the taxi (or maybe two with four people and luggage) and these car services are making a whole lot more sense all the time -- especially for four people!

You're welcome. I'm glad to see that you've used this company too & very surprised it is not mentioned more.

Price correction Leonardo Express train is 8.80 euro. I have used Limo Service Rome but it appears airport connection is cheaper. ecat and nycfood snob - does the price include wait time at the airport?

kybourbon,

I'm not really sure I get the question of wait time. All I know is you e-mail them your flight times and they show up.

You might want to go to the link http://www.airportconnection.it or e-mail them for your question: [email protected]

ecat - When I used Limo Service Rome the price included 1 1/2 hours of wait time at the airport for your flight - in case of delay etc.
