Transfer time in Vienna airport?
Hello - I feel a little uneasy..we booked a flight to venice via vienna for early october. I just got the itinerary and we will have all of 30 minutes between flights in vienna (assuming that daylight savings time doens't interfere or something). will that be adequate or should i call UAL now and try to change? we'll be doing carry-on luggage only so that shouldn't be an issue. I've only flown into/out of vienna; never connected thru there so I don't know if tyrolean is in another terminal, gate area, etc. thanks!

That is not a legal (or wise) connection, should not have been allowed to be booked like that, goes against their rules. Call and insist. But if you get delayed and can't make the connection, if it is all on one ticket and the connecting airline is a partner of United, they will get you there on the next available flight, whatever/whenever that is.
If the connecting airline is not affiliated and you have two separate tickets, then you're hosed.

I have the same problem, doomsday is tomorrow. On Air Austria's website it says that connecting at Vienna is fast and easy and that you should be sitting an your connecting flight within 30 minutes of landing. They tout this as being unique in all of Europe. However that can't account for other delays, so I won't hold my breath. It is ridiculous that I should be sold such an itinerary, but it's my own fault for not carefully checking it. Looks like I could be spending a night in Vienna. Good luck.

The Vienna airport is rather small, not sprawling. As I recall, the checkin area is about half the size of that in O'Hare or DFW. The waiting area is not much bigger than the waiting areas at the tip of a concourse like in DFW, ORD, or Detroit. Precious little seating. In midafternoon the lines seem to commingle. So, in one sense, 30 minutes is doable since you wouldn't have to run more than 100 feet. But in another sense, would you baggage move as fast, or the checkin processors?
It seems too tight even for a 2 gate airport, much less VIE
