Transfer from Rome to Naples

I'm looking into traveling between Rome and Naples. I'm not keen on the train due to motion sickness. Do you have any suggestions for either a low cost airline between Rome and Naples or a reasonable car service?

Having traveled extensively with my little granddaughter, who, until recently was very prone to motion sickness, I would say that you're much more likely to suffer on a plane or in a car than on a train. Have you had much experience with the high-speed trains in Italy?

the most modern fastest trains will probably have less motion than either a car service or a plane - fresciarossa trains not any others - brand new high-speed tracks I think make a smooth sailing at nearly 180 mph - from Naples either take a taxi or private driver to Sorrento and on - the commuter train CircumVesuviana train may now be really shaky!

www.trenitalia.com for fares and schedules and printing tickets at home should you brave the train.

I don't think you're going to find "reasonable" car service. The going rate is about 350 euros, maybe more. For flights, check the Alitalia website.

I also suffer from motion sickness on trains but not so on the Rome / Naples trip last year. The fast trains are a joy and we couldn't believe how smooth all of our trips were. Definitely a joy to travel on!

I just took the Naples to Florence high speed train and it was fabulous.
No motion sickness problems at all.

The high-speed trains would be the LEAST shakey of any type of conveyance - 30 years ago no the train would be rolicking and rolling - not your grandpa's railway this Italian rail system of today!

As everyone has said, the high speed rail does not shake, rattle and roll.
On the other hand...once you get to Naples what are your plans? If it's going to Sorrento on the CV (the local train) then maybe re-think that journey as it will throw you around somewhat. A taxi from Naples to Sorrento is a 100 euro fixed fare or you can take the ferry but that may induce worse motion sickness depending on the seas on the day.

I took the Frecciarossa from Naples to Rome last week having purchased my Business Silencio ticket for €29 a couple months prior. It was a very comfortable experience. I'm prone to motion sickness and have never had a problem with train travel.
