Train reservation to Naples
Hi,
I am catching a train from Florence to Rome on Wednesday and arrive there at 09:30am. I want to go to Pompeii for a day trip the same day, but I believe I need a reservation for the ES train to naples. If I wanted to catch the 09:45 train to Pompeii, would I have time to make the reservation? - how long in advance do you usually need to reserve.
Or, can I purchase the reservation for Rome - Naples, from the station in Florence?

Since the train arriving in Rome at 9:30 is a Eurostar, you will have to reserve it also, so you might as well get your reservation for the whole trip. Alternatively you can wait an hour later and get a train from Florence direct to Naples without having to change in Rome.

Hi pat,
Since you have a railpass you will have to make reservations for all ES* trains and pay a supplement as well.
Can you cash in your railpass?
If NOT - don't read any further.
IF YES - enter your itinerary at www.railsaver.com and see if you will save money.

Hi pat.
The Eurail people are ticket agents. When you buy a railpass it is good for travel on a train, but doesn't guarantee a seat.
Therefore, when you want or need a seat reservation you have to pay an extra fee.
You can get all of your reservations at the same time.
