BabsB -

We stayed at the Hotel de Emauspoort in Delft two years ago and really enjoyed our stay. They have an excellent bakery on site which makes for a great afternoon or evening snack.

We followed basically the same itinerary as you are planning - we left Brugge by 9:00 am, stopped in Ghent for a few hours during the morning (we stashed our luggage), then boarded the train for Antwerp Bercham, where we changed trains for Rotterdam Central.

Once in Rotterdam we stashed our luggage at Central Station then got back on the train for a 3 minute ride to OverBlaak, which drops you right off at the Kijk Kubus. We explored the Oude Haven area, took the water taxi to the New York Hotel and back, then eventually made our way back to Central Station, where we picked up our luggage and boarded the train for a 15 minute ride into Delft.

Since it was late in the evening, we opted for a taxi to take us to the hotel (about EUR10, I think). I'm glad we did because the hotel is several blocks from the train station. There is a bus stop around the corner from the hotel, but it was after dusk when we arrived, we were tired and hungry, and just didn't feel like trying to figure out the bus system at that time.

The hotel is in a restricted travel section of town - it was pretty cool that the taxi driver had to swipe a card to get the post in the middle of the road to go down so we could proceed to the hotel.

If you're coming to Delft with luggage it might be easier just to take the train straight in to Delft instead of going to den Haag and then taking the tram in. There is less room on the tram for dealing with your luggage.

If you do want to bring the tram in, you can get off at Delft-Central Station then take the bus or taxi to the hotel. If you want to walk to the hotel from the tram, you should get off at the stop before the Stationsplein (look at the chart on the wall in the tram), which is at Phoenixstraat and Binnenwatersloot. From there, Markt Square and the hotel behind the Nieuwe Kerk is pretty much a straight shot walking, however, it is several blocks.

Hope this helps in your planning. Peace.
