Tours to Inner Greece

Grand European had a great tour to the inner lands of Greece...I understand for some reason they will not be offering it for 2004. So....how, where do I begin to find a tour that will cover Athens, Mycenae, Epidaurus, Nauplia, Olympia, Corfu, Kalambaka, Meteora, Pella, Thessaloniki, Delphi, Delos. I had planned to be gone for about 21 days on this part alone, late April and early May and THEN take a week cruise of the islands. I dont mind catching up w/ a tour from England....but travel alone and do prefer tours rather than being totally on my own. Any ideas? Names of Greek tour companies who could set me up? Help!!!!!

LEANNAT

I was in Athens just over a month ago and brought home with me a CHAT Tours brochure.

They do a 5 day trip called the Classical Tour with visits to: Corinth Canal, Nauplia, Epidaurus, Megalopolis, Tripolis, Olympia, Delphi, Kalambaka, Meteora. Cost per person is 492 euro (half board)

Another 5 day tour they offer is called Northern Greece - Macedonia. Visits include Delphi, Kalambaka, Meteora, Dion, Thessaloniki, Pella, Vergina, Lefkadia. Cost per person is 648 euro (half board).

They also do a Grand Tour that seems to pull in most of the places you wish to visit.

I am happy to scan the page(s)for you and email them if that suits.

Their address is 9, Xenofontos Street, Athens. Phone 210.3230.827 Fax 210.3231.200. The email address is [email protected]

Hope that helps,

Millie

Millie ..thank you so much....I found the web page plus Im printing out this email for my TA. NOW to find out just what will be open and what will be closed for pre Olympic preparations. I plan on going in early May. I noticed that CHAT had a warning on their web page about things being closed. I'm a big history buff and would be very very disappointed to take the trip and spend the money and then not be able to get into the sites. Anyway..thanks again and I am checking it out!!!

Leannat,
I just spoke to a very good friend of mine, Constantinos, that lives in Delphi. All the archeological sites are open but a good majority of the museums are under construction for the Olympics. He said that "The Charioteer" in the Delphi museum is open, as that is one of the main attractions. They will probably STILL be under construction when the Olympics start. If you need a good contact in Delphi, let me know.

Carla...thanks for your update. Got a smiley out of the fact that things might still be under construction even when the O are going on!!! I read in one of the Travelers Tales books..a line...and I misquote..."at various times all of Europe is under construction!!!" Well so is the USA!! I have great pics of our capitol w/ scaffolding and also Trumans house...w/ scaffolding! Anyway thanks for this knowledge...and Im saving all these notes!!!
