Tourist info at Termini?
I would like to pick up tourist information on Rome as soon as possible after reaching the city. We are flying into Fiumicino and will take a train to Termini, then a Metro to our hotel near the Spanish Steps. Is there a tourist information office in either location? Also, is there a better way to get to the hotel?

Renee - there is a tourist office right near the tracks at termini, when i went there they were very helpful assisting with maps, etc.
i'm sure there is a tourist office at fiumicino though i didn't look for one.
taxis are not too expensive (i was on a students budget and could still afford it...), and rather than exhaust yourself even more by taking the metro i would grab a cab outside termini!
hope this helps...

Renee,
There is a hotel shuttle service from Rome airport which drops you at your hotel. We booked tickets on our arrival, the shuttle holds about 6 people and goes about every half hour. Cost was 10.50 euro each. You book this at the Hotel Reservation Desk (there are 2 or 3 of these but one of them has a big sign advertising the shuttle with costs etc). I think this would be easier and cheaper than struggling on and off trains with your luggage.
Kay

Maybe this won't be true later in the year, but when I went through Termini this summer every tourist office, ticket office, information desk -- anywhere you might speak to a human being and ask a question -- had a line of 50 people in front of it.

Kay---Question about hotel shuttle service--does it go to any hotel in Rome or just to selected ones? Does it also make pick-ups to return to FCO? Have goten info on the limo service and it sounds good too. We have transfers to our hotel but will need them to return to FCO. Thanks for any info. M
