Anyone know of a good tour group for Europe where the majority of the people are Senior Citizens? Contiki is not an option...I am 38.

Trafalgar has "Breakaway" tours for 21-38.

Rick Steves tours also might have more 30-40 somethings than other tours b/c he requires that you be able to carry your luggage and be fairly mobile.

Wait: are you asking for tours where the majority of the people "are" senior citizens (or are "not")? It appears to be a typo in your question but maybe not.

Contiki is probably an option -- just say you're 35. I had a 38 yo on a tour I took.

NO SENIOR CITIZENS. When I was on the Contiki...we called all the old people tours...Antikis!

If you've already taken one Contiki tour, you can probably take another one without a problem.

I took one years ago and after BigRuss mentioned it, I think I do recall a guy who was 39-40 on the trip. He was with his wife or gf who was under 35 and they wanted to be with younger people and Contiki didn't care.

yeah...i barely keep up with them a few years ago on contiki...i am not sure i can handle that much partying anymore! i am getting old but don't want to hang with grandma and grandpa

So have you found a travel group for 30-40 year olds? I'm also almosy 38, and don't want to be with a bunch of partying 20 year olds but also dont want to be with a bunch of fuddy duddy 50 year and plus year olds!

Grand Circle tours are mostly geared to those 60 and above although sometimes there are younger people on the tours. I would think most of the major tour companies would include many seniors. You can contact them and ask the participant average age. Try Collette, Insight, Taulk.

Take a look at Intrepid, Imaginative Traveller, Explore!, Exodus, REI, GAP Adventures, Peregrine/Gecko....

Sorry 50's are not fuddy duddies. (I'm 53 and rung rings around many of my younger co-workers.) But on many tour groups you'll find few 50's - and most members are late 60's and up.

I know this is anathema - but why do a tour - when organizing your own trip is much more satisfying?

Insight for sure.I will 33 at the end of this year and will be doing a tour with them next year to Egypt.Call me unusual in that I will be one of the youngest persons on my tour but I wanted something with a bit of class for a once in a lifetime vacation and this was on the recommendation of the travel agent and everything I had been reading up on.Also I didn't want a bus full of 18 through to twenty somethings who want to party all night long and hook up with their tour companions and get little out of the trip.I wanted something where everyone is there to have a good time and take in the culture

Try Intrepid and Explore, I've been with Explore and my sister has been with Intrepid (trips in Europe and Asia) and ages were mostly 30's and 40's and mostly singles.

I like Cosmos tours. They have great itineraries with good prices. Because they are a good company with good prices, they tend to attract a mix of people. Young couples, singles, families and seniors. Because of the price, you can stop off for dinner at some great restaurant and you don't feel badly about not going back to the hotel for included meals (which are usually awful on any tour.) You also don't have to buy the various - optionals. You can do as you please. I've been on a few Cosmos tours, and have always had a wonderful time. I love the mix of people. Please don't discount all seniors. The fuddy dud versions are usually on the more expensive tours.
I was traveling solo on one tour and took my seat on the bus next to a 92 year old lady doctor from India. Two of her grand children had taken her on the tour. What a fantastic, fun and interesting person she turned out to be. We took the train up the Gornergrat in Switzerland. She wanted to walk up to the rock, but her "youngins" didn't want to. She and I trudged to the top through the snow arm in arm. Part of the reason I travel is to meeting new and interesting people like her. She was far from a fuddy dud. I also got a wonderful picture of her eating gelato with a great 8 year old who was also on the tour. The only sad part was the last night's dinner when we all said good-bye.
The only people who don't seem to take Cosmos tours are those right out of a "jackarse" movie, if you know what I mean.

I have been looking for a group like this ! I just got back from a 13 day travel experience with a group of 51 people. Very few spoke English, they wanted to eat at all of the touristy spots and every night was drinking/party night. Most of them were very young. I like to book affordable trips and I prefer small groups to groups of 50.
