We will be there for part of it. Does anyone know if there is an English speaking TV station in Paris that carries good tour coverage? BBC? Eurosport? I am looking for more than just the race results for the day: moer like the play by play we get on OLN TV here in the States. I hear some French stations have all day coverage but my French is extremely limited! Merci.

There are no French English-speaking stations, the ones available are on cable from other countries. There are a couple from England, BBC Skynews etc and usually some sports stuff on, which I don't pay much attention to even notice the language.

The only way to find out what you will get on your TV is to turn it on and try, though. Some hotels don't carry as many channels as others from cable.

The Tour de France is only being carried live in France by TV2/3, and will be on most of the day (http://www.letour.fr/2004/fr/index.html), but it will also be covered as news on Eurosport, BBC, etc. Your French doesn't need to be perfect to understand most of what's going on since they do a lot of talking during the broadcast. The best way to keep up with the daily results is to read the morning papers. Even the IHT prints the complete up-to-date results each day. The TDF is as big as the world soccer playoffs in France, Spain and Italy as well as most of the rest of Europe and a lot more interesting than the Super Bowl or the Final Four.

Thanks. We want more than just the quick news results so I guess we'll watch it in French.

I have always loved watching this amazing race on TV and am rooting for Mr. Lance Armstrong with all my might.
I made a special trip to Chartres and followed the route to Angers and a little beyond a few weeks ago, just to sort of check it out. It will be so special when I see the riders on that stretch in a few days time.
Have still to post trip report of our 6 days in Paris & 7 days in London this June.
