Tivoli from Rome question please
We'll be arriving Rome @ 8:40 am, renting a car and driving from Rome to Amalfi Coast, Is it feasable to tour Tivoli on that day since it will be our only chance. I think Tivoli is about an hours drive north-east of Rome is this accurate? We'll need plenty of daylight time to drive to Ravello, info would be appreciated.

Hello Donna,

Yes it's quite feasible. An hour's drive along the Via Tiburtina is about right if you're starting from the city centre, - less if you're lucky.

Villa Adriana is only a few miles from the G.R.A (ringroad), so you're soon on the autostrada south from there.

Steve

P.S. Villa d'Este is closed on Mondays.

Donna - If it's you're only chance to visit I would definitely do it!
You'd need a full morning to visit both Villa d'Este and Villa Adriana.
(Villa d'Este is in town, and Villa Adriana about 3 miles out).

You don't need to spend much time in the town itself unless you decide to have lunch there.

You should probably aim to leave by 2p.m to arrive in Ravello before sunset.

Hope this helps ...

Steve

P.S. A correction to what I said above:
It's the main A1 autostrada (not the G.R.A) which passes near Tivoli.
