Tipping in Italy -- a refresher course needed
#121
As airline staff, I have often received upgrades and preferential treatment for a very simple reason -- I have never asked for an upgrade or preferential treatment. I just try to be as pleasant as possible and completely patient, knowing that I generally won't receive a boarding pass until the last 5 minutes. When I suddenly get a seat much better than I expected, I consider it to be a tip for having behaved in the best possible way.

In Italy we don't really tip much. Restaurants have the "cover charge" included of around 2 3 euros per person already, but that goes to the owner. <ore than tipping we usually round it up. So if the bill is 65, we round it up to 70. Taxi or so it is more up to u. Usually it is quite expensive by default. But 5 euro tip or so is well accepted.
