We are staying just outside Paris for 5 days at Marriott's Village d'lle-de-France. Since it's outside Paris, we were hoping to get some ideas of things to do around the area rather than commuting everyday in to Paris for a 30min commute. We can rent a car, but are open to anything and everything.

Preferences:
Champagne / Wine Tasting
Museums
On our honeymoon, so anything that oozes romantic.

Some Ideas Already:
Mont St. Michel
Colmar
Versailles with the Bike Ride

Afterwards, we have another 3 days to use up before going home. This is entirely open ended, so either we can stay back in Paris or venture further out, for instance, if we go visit Colmar at the end of our stay at the Marriott, we can book a night out there and travel another day trip in to Germany, etc.

okay, I'd never heard of this but looked it up and it's a place for people to stay to go to Disneyland, which isn't surprising by the name, I guess.

So that limits daytrips options by location. You can't really go to Mont St Michel for a daytrip for example, it's really too far and on the western side of Paris, anyway on top of that.

Some ideas that are not too far:

Meaux (this has an excellent WWI museum that recently opened, if yiou aren't interested in that, I wouldn't go there).

Yes, you can go for champagne tasting in that area to Epernay or Reims, that would work.

Easily go to Fontainebleau or Barbizon or Chateau Vaux le Vicomte.

AUxerre

Troyes

Provins

Chantilly

Compiegne

Now I am thinking driving to all of those, not that you can't reach them by train (I've been to all by train from Paris except Vaux le Vicomte where I took a bus tour). But I have no idea what train access you have from your accommodations, and how close you are to a SNCF line.

Colmar is too far for a day trip. Why go to Versailles from the east side of Paris? Substitute Fontainebleau.

If you don't drive to some of these places, you are probably going to have much more than a 30 minute commute, I suspect you'll have to go into central Paris anyway to get there by some rail system, such as Versailles. How did you think you'd get there?

We liked a day trip to Chantilly. Chateau is there, the grand stables, chantilly cream, way less crowded than Versailles.

I believe that place is a timeshare so I presume that's how they got the place, swapping timeshare availability for a "free" stay. I'd be willing to bet they didn't just pick it out of the blue for no reason, and it isn't even clear if they plan to visit Disneyland.

It's 3 miles from the RER A line Marne la Vallee Chessy. There is a bus station right near the villa and bus 34 goes to/from the RER.

I think you would have to have a car just to do most anything without taking up huge amounts of time, but that is a TGV station at the Marne la Vallee rail station and you can go to Champagne/Ardennes station from there, for example.

In fact, you can go direct to Strasbourg in only about 2 hrs, so that's an option for a day trip, also.

this with a big bus..they do another with a van of 12 passengers
there is another tour by train with another provider..
let me know if u are interested that takes you by train and also visit 2 more towns.. but costs USD 280

BY myself by train from Gare D'Est, I took a train to PROVINS a medieval town.. and booked two shows.. the Falcons and the knights..
check the days for the schedule of the shows.. you can book directly in the Provins city site..

Thank you everyone for all this wonderful advice. yes, we were gifted this timeshare for our honeymoon. This is the reason for the location being in the middle of nowhere. And no, we aren't that huge of fans of Disneyland, so we won't be even going there.

Barbizon is charming and pairs well with Fontainebleau. I would seriously look at Vaux Le Vicomte, as well. I love Champagne so Reims/Epernay would be interesting to me. The cathedral at Reims is wonderful. If you go to Champagne, look into a smaller Champagne house than Moët e Chandon.it's nice but a smaller producer would probably make for a better experience.

I would suggest you stay your remaining days in Paris. Fabulous museums, wonderful restaurants and food, and Paris! You won't get any flavor for Paris staying out by Disney.

Kathie hit it on the nail (as usual)! You might even consider spending ALL of your time in Paris, skipping your gifted location entirely. Seriously! Google "sunk cost."
