TICKETS TO ALHAMBRA
I'm going to visit Granada end of October but wanted to find out if I needed to buy tickets in advance or can I just get them while I'm in Spain. I shall be there for 11 days. I have been told that since its off season I don't need to purchase in advance. Please advise

I've found while doing my own research that you can buy them at any branch of
Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria Banks. You can also go to www.alhambratickets.com

Off-season you probably will be fine buying them there. We bought ours online from the Alhambra website and I gotta tell you - it was awfully nice breezing up to the prepurchased tickets window while the other line snaked way back into the woods. (But that was in late May, when there were a lot more tourists.)

This past July we had pre-bought tickets waiting for us and believe me, there was NO "breezing up" to the ticket window since the line for the pre-reserved tickets took 40 minutes!!!
However, I would think that in October you could easily wait to buy these perhaps even the day you actually get there.

Just returned from Spain last Thursday. Visited the Alhambra on Sept 27, and I had pre-purchased my tickets last April. It was nice breezing up to the window, but the line for those buying their tickets that day was not very long. And by the time we actually went into the Alhambra (arrived at 8:00am, and had coffee first, then went into the complex around 8:45), the line was almost non-existant.
I would think that by the end of October you shouldn't have any problems purchasing your tickets the same day. However, you can go to any BBVA branch at any time and buy your tickets. So, if you are in Spain and know you will be in Granada on day X, just go into a BBVA branch a few days before and buy your tickets, if you don't want to take chances.

I would certainly purchase tickets on line before you travel, even if it is not essential it saves any queuing.I was there in early May and had booked but some people we met queued for hours and still only got tickets for the following day as a limit is set on the number of visitors each day.An early entry time is best as then you avoid the coach parties. Enjoy your trip.
