The owner of the Ausburg, Germany restaurant Boheme confirmed that though customers are welcome to bring their dogs with them when they dine, "small children" are not allowed in the evenings. "After a hard day's work, [diners] want some peace". he told Agence France-Presse.


Bravo Boheme - I wish more restaurants would follow.

Actually, you are right, most dogs rarely bang dishes, scream or cry and I have never seen one throw food on the floor.
But, then, I am prejudiced

For Germany, no, that doesn't seem strange at all. In the US, sure, but I'd much rather have a dog near me than a small child (they're probably cleaner, at any rate, and usually better behaved, and often cuter, particularly once the child is over a certain age).

My brother lives in LaJolla, Ca. outside of San Diego and you see dogs in some of the water-side cafes with no problems.

I guess it would seem weird in the child-centric US.

Oh if we could just get a policy like this in the states! Way to go Boheme!
