The Netherlands: Madurodam
Since we will be in Amsterdam, I would like to visit Madurodam, which I understand is a short train ride away.
We will be there the first week in November, and I will assume that is not ideal weather to see this outdoor, miniature city in its full glory.
Will we be disappointed if we visit Madurodam in less-than-perfect weather?

It is always worth visiting Madurodam, no matter what the weather. It is open all year, and indeed is often better in the "off season" as it isn't so crowded.
It takes between 40 and 50 minutes to get to Den Haag by train. You take tram 9 to get to it, whether you arrive at Den Haag HS or Den Haag Centraal station.
Whilst in Den Haag, if you have time, try to visit the Panorama Mesdag. That is also a wonderful thing to see. www.panorama-mesdag.nl

It is indeed worthwhile to visit. As 'hetismij'says, it takes about 45 minutes to get to the Hague and then about 10 minutes by tram to get to Madurodam.
The city of the Hague itself is also worth a visit. Especially the area around the 'Binnenhof', this is the center for all Dutch Government buildings. You also have a very good (although) small museum there; Het Mauritshuis.

If you are going to go to Madurodam, do as others have suggested and visit The Hague as well. In addition to ideas already mentioned, have tea at Hotel Des Indes; very old-dutch, historic hotel (recently completely refurbished), and explore the lovely streets behind there (Hooikade, Denneweg). And next door to Des Indes, the Escher museum.

There is some "wiggle room" in our itinerary - now we are will plan to spend a half-day in Den Haag and visit the Madurodam.
hetismij...good to know the weather shouldn't impact our visit (I thought maybe the site would close, if the weather was inclement, especially in November.) TommieG thanks for the estimated trip time, and transit details. Tulips, thank you as well.
