The final trip - ever?

If you knew you could only make one more trip, where would you go and why? I am trying to figure it out myself but finding it hard to choose.

Thanks

If I already had a favourite place, then I'd repeat it to reinforce the memory. If not, well, you can't go wrong with anything! My current fascination is with South Africa, but that could change tomorrow. I'd probably go with the moment's whim

Back to Israel. I've been three times, but can't get enough, there is just so much history there. The people are wonderful, so very different, much more laid-back and friendly. It is very sad that it is no longer possible to drive around wherever the will takes you, but it is still my favourite destination. There was a time when it wasn't safe to freely wonder around my home town too, but if you took the trouble to find out where it was not safe to go, then all was well and you could have a wonderful time, and that goes for Israel as well.
bbib, have you figured it out yet?

Southern Africa... even though I just spent 2 months there and even though there are many places around the world I'm keen to visit.

Parts of that region captured my heart like no other destinations ever have, even those I adore, such as France.

Oh, East Africa. And of course I'd fly KLM so that on my way back I could spend a few days in Amsterdam. Best of both worlds. If only Air France flew to Tanzania--that would be even better!

A friend is dying and can't make her fall trip to France, She's now in a hospice. Like me, she has friends there and would love to go back one last time but her condition makes that impossible. I'm much older than she, and I always worry if It will be my last trip and so I chose to go back to France to see loving friends.

This is so touching and sad. I guess cigale said what I am thinking, try to treat each day as if it were your last and just keep going!
Paris captured my heart years ago, but I never know when or where somewhere new will grab me and I will fall in love with it..

Thanks for all the replies. I am sorry about your friend Cig.

I have never been to Africa - but would love to go. To be honest I wouldn't know where to start in choosing which part though.

I feel drawn to Nepal too.

Probably Northern Africa (Morocco, Tunisia), maybe India or Thailand? Maybe Turkey. I would also like to go to the Philippines--my mother is filipino and it would be sort of a journey back to my roots. Or, maybe I'd go back to the states (not a vacation, just a trip home).

This is a hard question!

Africa - while southern African countries - South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana were enthralling, and returning would be ideal; my final trip would have to be to the East African country of Kenya where I left my heart, so my soul can rest with those amazing people and their open savannahs teeming with wildlife; should Kenya be full-up, then in Tanzania we're I will have all those amazing animals to frolick amongst.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, Mimi. Yes, we should all live our lives and take our trips as if it could be the last since we really never know.

There are still so many places I want to see, but if I had to choose one, I think it would be China.

What a sad question. I'm not sure I could decide on a trip and plan and enjoy it, truly knowing I would never travel again (because physically unable or because death is near I'm not sure the exact intent of the proposed question).

When I just about dead, my plan was to go ride on the Maid of the Mist boat to the bottom of Niagara Falls, assuming I got out of the hospital vertically.

Both of which I did.

Niagara Falls is only a couple of hours from me, I've been there maybe 100 times, but had not taken the boat ride before.

Incidentally, it's worth the ride, even if you plan to stay alive afterwards.

Changing the question a bit, to "where would I be glad I'd been, knowing I was departing the world shortly" my first thoughts are Venice (never been there). BAK
