The Cinque Terre Card....do I need it?

I'll be staying in Manarola for a week in July. We plan to just take it easy and swim etc. This is my second trip to the CT.The CT card was not in use then (June 2001)
I'm probably all planned out with figuring the cheapest options..but is the CT card a best buy or should we just buy a daily train ticket for when we visit the other villages?
We will go into La Spezia but plan to use the ferry for Portofino visits etc.

Buon Giorno,
you ll need it if you want to hike beteween the towns or if you want to use unlimited train. If my memory is good, it was sold for 1,3 or 5 days last September.

If you're there for a week, definitely get it. We enjoyed 5 nights in Manarola last July and loved it.

If you plan to stay for a week, the card is definitely a good investment.

Before you buy the card, is better to plan your itinerary and see how many days trip you are going to take in different cities.

I spent a week in Manarola this past June and bought the 5 days card..I took a day trip to Portofino and the other day in Pisa..

Get the card....I was there in June and they were checking and charging on the hikes. And it is so easy to board the trains without waiting in lines for tickets...I thought the card was a good value. In Riomaggiore there is a nice Park office now....if you need to check emails...make phone calls or arrange other travel it is a good resource. Maggie

Boun Giorno. Lucca !! Towers, cafes, cool museum - had Leonardo de Vinci's drawings of helicopters etc mechanical doodlings when we were there. There is an A1 tourist office. Go there first for map and hints. PS - I like the idea of the card because it helps the foundation that maintains the CT trails. Oh, yes, one of our favorite restaurants during our trip this past fall was - Osteria Baralla on Lucca Via which is off the pedestrian shopping street of Anfiteatro which is next to the "colosium".. This is a cool area. And, this restaurant is budget, and local and YUM. Have a wonderful in just a wonderful area. Caio.
