The Capital Hotel in London, England

Has anyone ever stayed at The Capital Hotel on Basil Street in Knightsbridge? Any comments? Any other suggestions in the Knightsbridge area? We stayed at the Jumeirah Lowndes last visit and wanted to try something different. Thank you in advance for your commnts.

I really like the Knightsbridege Hotel.

1. The location is great, very quiet tree lined street
2. The rooms are tastefull done. Some rooms have bathrooms with a big window.
3. The front desk people are real friendly and helpful.
4. Harrods is around the corner.

As far as the Capital Hotel, the location is great, the rooms are pretty but I like the Knightsbridge Hotel better.

Go to Fino for tapas. Wonderful place!

The same owners also operate The Levin next door, which offers some more modern ambiance if you care for that.

The location of both hotels is quite nice I think, just a stone's throw from Harrods and thus a 2 min. walk from the Knightsbridge tube station with access to the Piccadilly Line.

For full disclosure: I haven't stayed at either the Capital Hotel nor the Levin, but have dined at the Capital Hotel (excellent) and pass by there on an almost daily basis.

Thank you both for your comments. I checked out The Levin and The Knightsbridge on line. When I reviewed comments on Trip Advisor, I also noticed someone who stayed at The Capital mention that they preferred The Berkeley. In all cases, including my initial hotel, The Capital, all hotels have received knocks by some people.

Further to what I just wrote, I have reviewed a few more places and wouldn't mind hearing from the Board.

Parkes Hotel
Egerton House
Charlotte Street Hotel (I know this one is not in Knightsbridge)

I stayed at The Capital in Knightsbridge. Very friendly staff, the room was very tasteful and comfortable as well as the bathroom. (Its hard to find hotels with spacious bathrooms in Europe) Location is great, right next to Harrods and there is a Starbucks across the street. If you end up deciding on The Capital and breakfast is included in your room rate definitely take advantage, it is wonderful!

Byron,

Yes the Barkeley is a very nice place to stay. They have a swimming pool and if you are going with someone that are into fashion, then they will enjoy afternoon tea in the Caramel Room. It is very unique. The rooms are beautiful especially their junior suites.

Charlotte Street Hotel is part of the Firmdale Group, and Fino is nearby.

Thanks for the responses. We have not landed yet on the hotel in Knightsbridge. We are in no rush as we are going in October. I have noticed some deals starting out there.
