Ten days in Dordogne.....Chambre d'Hotes suggestions ??Easter ??
We will be spending 10 days in Dordogne in April, and need to make some reservations, which will be a challenge with Easter in the midst of those days.We prefer to stay in small, lovely Chambre d'Hotes, and would like to choose the places to stay and then plan our itinerary, based on all the suggestions I have collected from Fodorites' trip reports.I would so appreciate suggestions. Also,we will be driving from Loches, and the Logis du Bief, suggested on another topic board.Any interesting driving routes to get us into the Dordogne??We have never been in France during Easter Sunday, and wonder if any of you would share your experiences. Is everything shuttered tight ??This is a somewhat last minute trip, with so much planning to do in so little time.Your suggestions will be such a help to us.

We will be staying at the following B&B near St. Cyprien in July. http://www.lechevrefeuille.com/index...tpage&Itemid=1
I can't officially recommend since we haven't been there yet. However, I was on their site recently and noticed some Easter specials. This place is highly rated on tripadvisor. I know I'm eager to stay here in July! Good luck.

For ten days a gite might be better than a chambre d'hôte.
If coming from Paris, just Google map starting point and your destination and you'll get the route between the two points. If you want to see thing in-between, consider Poitiers, St. Savin, Oradour-sur-Glane and Limoges for its porcelain museum.

We will be staying one week in Castelnaud, near Beynac (also near Sarlat)at Le Lys de Castelnaud, http://www.chambres-dordogne.com Medieval setting with a view of chateau Beynac, great reviews. Price very reasonable. I also always book my room first and plan my itinerary accordingly.

We stayed at Le Relais Du Pech, a very nice B&B not far from Sarlat. It's in the country so a car is a must. The owners, Ken and Linda are retired from England and were wonderful hosts. There is a shared (with other guests) kitchen that you can use for meals other than the wonderful breakfast provided. Our room was clean and comfortable and very reasonably priced.

I stayed at Villa des Consuls in Sarlat and thought it was wonderful. It was off season (just before Easter) so I didn't really have any of the parking/traffic problems that you sometimes read people mentioning. I was in Paris for Easter that trip so no problems.

My traveling companion and I trained from Paris to Limoges, picked up a car there, spent the night in Oradour-sur-Glane, saw the martyred village the next morning, and drove down to Sarlat stopping at Chateau Hautefort.
Just an idea. We enjoyed it very much.

I find the Hautefort hospice more interesting than the chateau itself.
