Tegelberg Cable Car Hike to Neuschwanstein Castle?
I will be visiting Neuschwanstein Castle at the end of the month, but was looking for a more scenic view than the tourist packed Marienbrucke. I have never been to the area, so maybe this is the best view and hiking is not worth it, don't know.
I have read that you can take the Tegelberg Cable Car up the mountain east of the castle and hike down to the castle, but I can't seem to find any good information on it, just that it exists.
How are the views? Is it really 2.5 hours? Is it safe? Does it connect to Neuschwanstein Castle so I can just take the bus back to town?
I am hoping for a view more like this one:

Also a somewhat vague question, but I have an extra day in Bavaria, can anyone recommend something off the tourist path or that I wouldn't find in Rick Steve's books?
