Tegelberg Cable Car Hike to Neuschwanstein Castle?
I will be visiting Neuschwanstein Castle at the end of the month, but was looking for a more scenic view than the tourist packed Marienbrucke. I have never been to the area, so maybe this is the best view and hiking is not worth it, don't know.
I have read that you can take the Tegelberg Cable Car up the mountain east of the castle and hike down to the castle, but I can't seem to find any good information on it, just that it exists. How are the views? Is it really 2.5 hours? Is it safe? Does it connect to Neuschwanstein Castle so I can just take the bus back to town? I am hoping for a view more like this one: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...L._SL1500_.jpg Also a somewhat vague question, but I have an extra day in Bavaria, can anyone recommend something off the tourist path or that I wouldn't find in Rick Steve's books? |
Have a look at the Michelin Green Guide - WAY better than The infamous Rick's work. Tells you all about each sight - with * ratings - as well as how long it will take you to see it.

Try trip advisor.com/attractions searching for Tegelberg cable. There seem to be several posts with detailed instructions for hikes to/views of Neuschwanstein.
Never dud it myself, but next year...? Post back if YOU do it! |
Sorry, that should be www.tripadvisor.com/attractions
