It should cost between 40 and 50 Euros depending on traffic and time of the day.
Should your plane arrive in the early morning, this is not a good idea to drive to Paris since traffic jams are huge on the motorway.

I think I didn't make my question clear. How much would a taxi cost from the Opera Garnier to the rue Cler? This is an alternative to a shuttle if they don't show or our plane is late.

Ahhh ... the RoissyBUS drop off))
Actually at that point you are just a few yards from the Opera metro entrance when you can take "line 8" to Ecole Militaire easy as pie.
No idea about the cost of a taxi -- hope someone else will step in.

Hi, Marilayne
I think Joelle may have misunderstood your question; $40 or $50 would cover cab fare from the airport (CDG) into town. But I got the impression you're taking the Roissy bus from CDG, which drops passengers near the Opera, in the 9th.
If that's your plan, then a taxi to Rue Cler in the 7th would be far less than $40/$50...though you should be aware that fares can depend on number of people and how much luggage.
And if you're traveling light, the Roissy stop is just a block or so from the Opera Metro stop, line 8. Take the train in the direction of Balard, get off at Ecole Militaire stop, and you're just a few blocks from r. Cler. Easy and inexpensive, but a taxi is worth the money if you're dragging multiple bags or even a couple of heavy ones.
Anyway, enjoy yourself! Haven't been to Paris since May, '01 and I miss it...but 2 weeks from today we land in Rome!
If that's the case, a cab ride

You might also consider taking the Air France bus to Gare Montparnasse and a taxi from there to rue Cler. Your taxi fare would be lower that way--probably less than 10 euros (plus 11 euros or so for the AF bus).
