guidebooks are passe kind of anyway - best most current info online -including Google maps - I like a guidebook for general info to peruse thru then go online to get more detailed and always up-to-date info on exact places.

Guidebooks have tremendous use, including the presentation of information one doesn't even know to ask. While checking online for current information is certainly advisable, trying to travel without consulting a good guidebook leads many people to ask, afterwards, why they ended up making mistakes that were costly in time, money, or both.

Yes of course - get general planning info from guidebooks -for an overall of where you want to go and then hone in on each area with the most current info - online. Agree with kja.
