I saw the initial drop-off hiking trail at Stechelberg - looking difficult. You could always hike down from Stechelberg! Though going down could he as hard or harder on knees due to constant braking at places.

The fare showed in post 12 is no longer valid.
It costs now 83 CHF with and 100 CHF without Half Fare Card.
