The Palace on Wheels, but that is the equivalent of the VSOE. Not scheduled public transit, but a luxury package tour.
But they can't take trains and cableways to the top of mountains in the Himalaya and I hope it's going to stay like that.
Are you always so ****ing argumentative? I was actually on your side!

Yes, I'm argumentative. My motto is: Dubitando ad veritatem pervenimus
Sure, there is a huge difference in night trains, say a platzkart on the Lviv-Solotvyno milk run or the Lux compartment of the Paris-Moscow express, these are indeed a world apart(also in price), but a bottom line is:
In all real night trains you have accommodation options where you get some sort of flat space to stretch out and spend the night sleeping, but these are never going to be as comfortable as a hotel room, not even on the luxury trains ot the VSOE "Orient-Express", because your accommodation is moving and it si a confined space.
" Keep going north to Nepal and they can take the Chandragiri Cable Car, or even better, a flight past Everest. And while the Darjeeling and Simla lines don't go all the way up, they are certainly mountain railways. Then there's this: Gulmarg Gondola "
Sure, but a single Swiss canton has more than that. Perhaps they've already been to all these places. Not to mention that we travel to see new places. I was in the base camp of the Nanga Parbat, but I still enjoy weekend hikes in the nearby "mountains" which are lowe than 600m.

It seems to me that there's a HUGE territory between doubting (and questioning) on one side and arguing each and every thing said by people with other viewpoints. And not just a huge territory, but one that can not necessarily be crossed without being rude. Maybe internet travel forums are not that different from the travel issues they cover -- knowing the local norms can be of tremendous benefit. JMO.

BDKR -- stop derailing! The thread has gone to heck in a hand basket because you can't let it go. If you hadn't noticed, the OP has not responded to any of your MULTIPLE posts. He ain't interested . . .
ChethanSP99: Please ignore all the side arguments and come back to let us know what your current thoughts are. With such a short free timr, I really would choose just two destinations -- and it would help if one of the two was Zurich or convenient to it.
