Suggestions for Where to Stay in Bath

We will be in Bath in May for 3 nights and would appreciate recommendations on where to stay. We typically like smaller, non chain, charming places to stay. We prefer to be in town or within walking distance ( .5 mile or so) . As this is part of a longer driving trip we will have a rental car. If possible would like to keep it at less than $200 a night. Suggestions?

We absolutely loved Hill House (one of our Top ten spots ever), where we stayed in 2013. It still garners rave reviews. Harry and his partner are terrific hosts, and they made the only blueberry pancakes that have ever close to mine

Check out Chapters Eight, Nine and Ten on my trip report. They contain more info. I also included their website.

We visited Bath in May 2016 and were very happy with the Kennard. Our room was very clean and comfortable with a sleigh bed, 2 large windows and a sparkling shower. Breakfast served in the elegant dining room was excellent with several choices. Very accommodating owners. It's just a couple of blocks over the Pulteney Bridge from Bath Abbey.

We enjoyed Cornerways B&B. It meets your requirements. The rooms are simple but nicely furnished and spotless and the hostess when we were there was gracious. All rooms are ensuite and the breakfasts were among the best we had on the trip. Best of all, it is probably the best lodging bargain in the city.

Thank you all! I will check them out. It's so much easier to start a hotel search with some recommendations.

better make sure you have parking at your accommodation, Bath (like a lot of other cities) could never be called "car friendly".

There are quite a few charming boutique hotels in Bath at reasonable prices. Check out places like; Brindleys, Hill House, Haringtons City Hotel or Grays. All are excellent places to stay.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. We checked them all out and looking at price, parking availabilty and bed size, Hill House works best for us.
