Straw handbags

Hi everyone. I am traveling to the Amalfi coast early September. I have a great straw cross body handbag that would be perfect for the trip. Is it too late in the season to use a straw handbag. Technically it is still summer. Thanks.

no, it's only a few weeks away, don't worry about it

have never seen a straw cross body bag, though, is that very sturdy?

There's no law in Italy about putting away your straw handbags, straw hats, and white shoes on Labor Day. Anyway, our Labor Day is the 1st of May.

You can use your straw handbag in January if you like.

I've never seen or heard of a straw cross-body handbag, but there is absolutely no reason you couldn't use it anywhere, anytime you want. There aren't fashion police in Europe.

How does it hold up in rain?

No norms against it, but are you sure it is sturdy enough to survive the elements and use?

I was wondering the same thing about white pants for Camogli in September, then realized that the Labor Day rule is probably not a thing in Italy.

It's not straw, it's "Squishee®"

I love it, but I wouldn't take that on a trip. It kind of screams, "I've got expensive stuff in this bag!"

When I travel, I take an anonymous bag I bought in our town's weekly market. I get my luggage in the Italian equivalent of KMart. (Is KMart still a going concern?)

Hmm...it looks sophisticated beachy and not at all ostentatious to me. Less so than the ubiquitous Prada crossbody.

I also do not think that bag calls attention to itself. I think it's fine and looks like it would be a great travel bag (good size, wears close to the body, etc.)

YOUR HANDBAG WILL BE FINE.

It looks like it will be very light weight if that is a priority for you.

Positano is an upscale area, you will want to look nice.

ENJOY!

I love this handbag. It is out of my budget, unfortunately. I am eyeing this handbag on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/2314241...-bag-fold-over.

Debating whether I need it for my travel.

How stupid can everyone be!

Both cindywh and 2016adventurer first registered in August 2016.

Hoping that Fodors Italy does not become similar to Fodors USA.
