I enjoyed Stirling during my week's course at the University last July. The castle is very worthwhile to tour. There were programs held at the gift shop/theatre. we stopped for a drink at a pub nearby. Wallace Monument is close by, but imagine the weather in Jan. may not be the best for hiking.

The Highland Hotel is terrific, if expensive.

The Tormukin Inn about 20 minutes' drive away, is a favourite of mine.

I booked a double at the Highland Hotel thru their website for GBP 90 in May. I imagine you could do much better in the offseason.

If you're looking for the Tormaukin, you might need to spell it properly

Kilronan - you may indeed have a lovely place but advertising is NOT allowed on this board.

And topping a 5 month old thread to advertise is even worse.

(I know, I know - I just topped it myself)
