Stay in Venice or Not

Abby5205--I think your revised itinerary makes sense. You're giving Venice a good go and you are giving Verona some due attention.
I really like Venice, but even when my youngest and I gave it 5 days, we looked at each other when we left the city and said, "Boy, it sure was time to leave." I have since revisited Venice 3 times, so I totally agree that there's always more to see. That does not mean I want to spend 7 days there.
If I were in your shoes, I would build in time as you take the train from Mestre to Verona to stop in Padua because we really did love seeing Giotto's Scrovegni Chapel there. The chapel is not far from the train station, and if you have ordered your ticket and placement time online http://www.cappelladegliscrovegni.it...et-reservation
you could fit everything in easily.
We really liked Padua a lot--we spent two nights there on our way to Venice from Milan--but I wish we could have seen Verona too!
