St Cirq et al - advise SVP

Looks like we may be able to squeeze in a couple extra days for my 18 yo niece's first trip to France. We plan Paris for the first week in June, am thinking about other places we might go to spend an overnight or two before flying out of CDG. All suggestions welcomed!

I strongly recommend an overnight on Mont St. Michel. It is magical at night after the day tourists leave.

It depends on what her/your interests are. With only 1-2 extra days I would consider either the Loire Valley Chateaux, the Champagne region or staying in the Ile de France area--love Fontainebleau, Chartres, Giverny, Beauvais, Senlis for historical/architectural interests.

I would make it Chartres and Versailles.

Thanks, Underhill, that is a possibility. I was also thinking about perhaps trying to get in a brief stint in a chateau. Anyone care to make suggestions?

I'll suggest Honfleur.

From Paris my suggestion is to go to Vaux le Vicomte. It is a relatively small chateau but extremely beautiful, you can see it in the movie " the man in the iron mask". The history of the place ties into the history of Versailles. We stayed at a B and B on the Seine in a small town called Bois le Roi and also toured Fountainbleu and travelled to Barbizon. They are within 20 km of each other.
