Spending time in Nice....
We'd like to spend a few hours in Nice, we have our own auto and would appreciate suggestions. Best place to park to access Old Nice and the Promenade des Anglais?
We would also love lunching or dining tips! Thanks for the help.

Oh boy--one of my favorite topics!
The best place to park for Vieux Nice is in the underground lot at the Cours Saleya, where the outdoor market takes place. From there you are IN old Nice and a short block from the Promenade des Anglais.
For lunch or dinner in the area, we always head to L'Ecurie, in Vieux Nice. It has a nice mix of Niçoise and Italian cuisine, and you can sit outside and watch the world go by. There's a fine candy shop right across the way and also a good gift shop for Provençal fabrics.
Vieux Nice has any number of restaurants; so you shouldn't have any trouble finding one that appeals to you. But you like seafood, head for the Café de Turin, a local favorite; we were introduced to it by French friends, as it's not much known in the tourist trade. It's over near the modern art museum and about a block from a large parking garage.
Have fun! It's a great area to visit and enjoy.
