Southampton to Stockholm--fly or drive
Will be arriving in Southampton on QM2 and have 10 days before river cruise out of Frankfurt. Want to see some of Scandanvia--Stockholm, Copenhagen and some of countryside. Would we be better off renting car or flying from Southampton to Stockholm and then to Frankfurt.

Fly to CPH or STO and rent a car there. You need to pick up the car and dropoff in same location or incur dropoff fees which can be very expensive. You can pick up a car in Denmark and drive in Sweden & v.v, take it on the ferry etc.

>>It is not hard to find a UK based car rental company that allows their vehicles to be taken to continental Europe.<<
Yes -- people drive from the UK and back in rentals, but can the car be dropped off in Europe? What would a rental agency do w/ a RHD car in Scandinavia?

Yes thanks Janisj, am quite aware of the issues with renting a car in the UK and dropping off in Scandinavia. I was addressing the incorrect comment made by ribeirascara where it was stated that it is hard to find a rental car that allows taking a rental car from the UK to the continent. It is not hard.
And neither are there direct flights from Southampton to Stockholm.
