Sorrento Boat Hire

I'm heading to Sorrento for a portion of my upcoming honeymoon and am interested in renting a boat with driver to see Capri and possibly cruise the amalfi coast for a day.

Any experiences and/or recommendations?

Thanks,
Jason

We hired a 25-foot powerboat and pilot for the whole day when we went to Capri from Amalfi. We used Amalfi Sails and were very happy. They picked us up in the morning and took us all around Capri to little coves and through the hole in the Farginola. We swam through the Spumanti hole as well, gorgeous water color. They also took us swimming on Sireneuse island off Positano. We had lunch in Capri town and explore for a few hours, then went back to the boat. Had a few more swims, went to the Blue Grotto at the least crowded time, and rode back just as the sun was setting over the island?a really wonderful day. We chartered using a group called Amalfi Sails. Contact information is:

They are based in Salerno. I got their name from this board. Other outfits recommended on this board:

Can anyone give me an idea of the cost of doing this? I'd like to know an approximate price before I start contacting everyone. Thanks!

Nina - If you join an advertised cruise (e.g Coop Sant'Andrea circumnav. of Capri) - approx. €25-30.00
(www.coopsantandrea.it)

If you want a boat privately you're probably looking at € 70.00+ per hour.

Hope this helps ...

Thanks for the help so far. I was kind of hoping someone would say to just go down to the marina and find a nice guy who would be cheap, but I guess not.

So far I've seen rates from 400-900 Euro for a days charter depending on the boat.

Some friends of ours have just got back and they hired a boat It was 200 euros for the day. They only wanted it for half a day but they were insistent they wanted 200 euros . He managed to get them down to 150 euros, but when he returned the boat they then wanted another 100 euros for fuel. When he tried to protest two rather intimidating guys appeared so he had to pay it.
