Soft Drinks in Ireland

Kind of a weird question - but what kind of soft drinks are available in Ireland? Are Diet Dr Pepper or Diet Mt Diew available at local markets?

luvtravl,
I travelled w/ many US folks for work in the past year and I had some cronic DP & MD drinkers who did have some trouble finding them! Some Tesco shops carried DP I know for sure, but it certainly was not a fixture. I think MD only showed up but once or twice if ever. Coke & Pepsi & Fanta were the most constant brand recognizable to Americans I think.

Soft drinks in Europe are very different than the US. You will have a hard time finding anything like Dr Pepper or Mt Dew in Ireland muss less their diet version.

Sugared drinks even taste different in Europe and Ireland soecifically becuase of the sweetners they use. Most Euorpean soft drinks use sugar beets while American soft drinks use high frutgose corn syrup.

If you have a desire for an energy drink in Ireland like Red Bull last I heard they were illegal because of several deaths relating to mixing (heavily I might add) Red Bull and Vodka.

Be safe aand take a 12 pack with you and ration it our.

Good Luck

I apologize for the spelling in the last post. Guess I am too use to automatic spell check on word.

For anyone going into Dr, Pepper withdrawal - they can just drink Coke and take some caffeine tablets for the extra kick - so they don;lt end up with the coming off caffeine headaches.

I have seen Dr Pepper here lately in Dublin but not Mountain Dew. If ypou are on holiday I am sure you can find a few other drinks to distract. Try Fanta lemon or club orange as well.

This might be a good chance to break the addiction to products that do your body absolutely no good.

Travel made a significant contribution to my stopping smoking and drinking Diet Pepsis by the case a couple of decades ago.

Just a FYI, sodas are called "minerals" in Ireland. As in, "Will you have a mineral?" Took me a few minutes to figure out what she was talking about!
