Soccer jerseys in Paris?

My teenage son will be travelling to Paris with 5 other classmates and two teachers next month. He is a huge soccer fan and wants to bring back a French team jersey. Does anyone know a good source for this? Also, any suggestions for this teenage group, especially restaurants, would be greatly appreciated. With such a small group, they will be able to get into any restaurant and are looking for the classic French bistro/food--NOT touristy!

Thanks for your help!

From the Place St.-Michel, walk along the quais on the Left Bank and you'll be tripping over stores selling soccer jerseys. Also on the Rue de Rivoli and the streets surrounding Notre Dame and the Centre Pompidou.

Oh, and they might enjoy Chartiers for lunch or dinner, or Au Sergeant le Recruiter. If they really want NOT touristy, they need to get into the double-digit arrondissements, which are probably not on their itinerary.

For what it's worth, we just returned from Paris and our 12 year old son was set on a real French team soccer jersey as well. As StCirq said, there are plenty of stores along the quais from Place St. Michel. We stopped in a few en route to our apartment and found that the least expensive jersey cost over 75USD.

Perhaps try the Nike store on the Champs Elysees? I don't know if Nike is a sponsor of local teams, but I did find my husband some great cycling jerseys there.

There are a couple Paris St. Germain (the Paris football team) stores, one on the Champs Elysees. They also carry jerseys for other major European teams (Manchester United, Real Madrid, etc). But they were very expensive. I think I also found a sporting goods store near Printemps that had jerseys. And maybe some of the departments stores will have them in the men's departments?

Across from the Paris-St. Germain store is the Adidas megastore on the other side of the Champs Elysées. And of course a little farther up the street is the Nike megastore.

Between Adidas and Nike, you can find 80% of the football jerseys of Europe.

Yeah, the jerseys are expensive. Just check out worldsoccershop.com or subside.us.com to see the prices. Bargains are few.

The best team in France is, and has been for nearly a decade (7 straight Ligue 1 titles and headed for an 8th), Olympique Lyonnais, known more generically as Lyon and which sports a patch with OL on the jersey.

PSG...

My son was one such a trip 3 year ago. Vodka, McDo, Döner, more Vodka, beer, Döner, passing out.

He thought it was a great trip. And he did buy the PSG jersey, in a mad dash to the champs elyssees on the morning before they left.

Official PSG shirts are expensive in Paris just like official team merchandise is expensive in most cities. you don't get bargains on official team mechandise anywhere.

Yes to pricey. A couple of years ago in Paris I purchased a PSG jersey for my son and I believe I paid about 120€. (Is that a euro sign)? He loved it!

Just in case anyone is responding to the OP - the teen aged son has married and had children by now -- the thread is seven years old . . .
