Sixt car rental

I am shopping around for car rentals for September and received a farely good quote from Sixt but have never used them. I have used Dan Dooley in the past but they are a bit higher. Now, I am aware of all the details around renting and just want to get some input from persons who have used this company, as I know that this topic has been addressed many times. thanks in advance

The U.S. military and families here in Germany use Sixt a lot and I have never heard of a problem with them. We personally have rented from them several times and definitely would again. I don't know if it's any different when you rent "on the economy", but from what I've experienced I would certainly recommend them.

I have had only one experience with Sixt and would never use them again. In Madrid, the car (a midsize) was dirty, there were major delays getting it rented in spite of having reserved ahead, and there were unjustified charges tacked on after return of the car. As I say, this is one example only, and it was in one city. So other cities and other representatives of Sixt might be different. Good luck.

I rented from Sixt once in Munich, from the office in the main train station. My review will be mixed. We could not get the type car we wanted, so we ended up with a BMW 316 at the same price. It was a very nice car.

What gave us the trouble was finding the car and returning the car.
First, we had to go and find some parking garage that was devoid of people, dark and spooky. It reminded me of the lyrics from the old parody tango called Hernando's Hideaway, which was located upstairs over a vacant lot. I was glad there were 3 of us poking around in that cavern looking for it.

When we brought the car back, we had a hard time finding the entrance to a subterranean garage. When we found it, there was a car transport carrier blocking the entrance. The driver was unloading cars and parking them on the entrance ramp itself, further blocking it.

Then we walked down the ramp to search for an attendant, or anyone who spoke intelligently. About 3 layers down we finally found the guys slouched on chairs in a corner office. They absolutely refused to do anything, despsite the fact one of us could tell them in native German what was going on. The just said they only dealt with cars delivered to their door down in the catacombs.

Frustrated by those 3 jokers, we went back to the guy parking the cars. He said he was done with his end of the contract and was leaving.

We left the car on the street and walked to the train station office of Sixt to appeal for a solution. The agent said he would take care of it and took the contract and keys from us and gave us a paid up receipt. Not exactly the kind of experience you like to remember, but I do remember it, well!

I don't know Sixt, except that I recall that was one of the companies we'd researched at one time, prior to an Ireland trip.

If you're still open to quotes, we had good luck with Argus Rentals as far as flexability and service were concerned.

www.argusrentals.com

They beat the inclusive price (CDW, tax)we'd gotten from other places at the time, including Sixt. Not sure if they still win out, but they still seem to be pretty reasonable from what I can see.
