Yes, we do have them in Australia just as ORDgirl said and correctly titled by Loveitaly as MulitCity.
In a nutshell you can fly in and out of anywhere in the world - its your choice with the airline that does the best for you.

Again I have to thank the people who replied to my post you made it very easy for me to figure out the travel to Venice and Paris. At first I thought night train( I still like the idea) but it was out of or budget range, which I am trying to keep within on this trip LOL!!
Booking the flight through myair will save us $1200 over the open jaw options I have coming from british columbia. Now on to picking a place to stay in each city, and wonder if the metro as confusing as it looks on the maps? especially as I donot understand french.

Bonjour! The metro in Paris is where I learned the subway system. It is very very easy, especially compared to New York City. I do not know French, either, other than the major words.

Another vote for Venice-Paris. Having done this with frequent flyer ticket, we booked round trip on Delta Los Angeles-Venice, with a stop over in Paris as we needed to change planes there. Do airlines still allow stopovers? That would certainly be the most economical way if your flight to Venice stops in Paris.

My two favorite cities in Europe! They'll be beautiful in September. Go, and have a glorious time.

I can't think of a better way to celebrate turning 40. Take a lot of pix, and post up a trip report when you return.

Enjoy!

Hi leanneb,

You might want to check this link if you have a PDA or somesuch.

http://nanika.net/metro/

I used it last year for navigating and it really makes the process easier. Covers almost all if not all of Europe insofar as transit systems are concerned.

Hi L,

> wonder if the metro as confusing as it looks on the maps? especially as I donot understand french.

It is not at all difficult. It will take you about 10 min to learn it.

You go into the station. There are machines that dispense ticktes as well as a staffed booth.

There are interactive maps showing you how to get to where you are to where you wish to go, and the price.

Remember the terminal stop for the line.

www.ratp.fr will tell you how to get between any two points in Paris.

You go through the turnstiles (insert ticket and remove it) to the tracks.

There are signs showing the directions for the trains and the intermediate stops.

On the platform, there are signs that tell you which train is coming, and when.

Upon exiting, you will see a map of the immediate area and the positions of the exits when you come up to the street.

I just want to put a vote in for the day train from Venice to Paris, through Milan. True you leave very early from Venice, but the ride through the Alps is beautiful!! You're in Paris at 4PM, in plenty of time for dinner.

Didn't mean to hijack with my question about the open jaw ticket. Feeling silly now as I think that's exactly what we have booked for May/June. Flying into Rome and home from Paris! thanks all for the explanations.
