Sienna back to Florence travel ? & Amsterdam info ? - 2 questions
Planning a Tuscany walking tour from Florence to Sienna. What is the best way to travel back to Florence from Sienna?
Also, our plane flight goes from Los Angeles to Florence with a stop in Amsterdam. I would like recommendations on how long to stopover in Amsterdam? Where to stay? What to see? Transfers from airport to hotel? We can add on three or four nights in Amsterdam.
Your replies greatly appreciated!

three or four nights would be perfect - a day to get over jet lag and a couple of days to explore the city or maybe a day trip elsewhere.
You can get a train from Schiphol straight into Amsterdam, or there is a hotel bus service which may suit better - generally though the train is cheaper and easier.

hi kiki,
two ways [usually] to get between Florence and Siena - bus and train. The bus goes from the centre of Siena to the centre of Florence, right next to the main railway station, the train from a couple of miles away from the centre of siena to the main railway station itself.
you could get which ever was more convenient for your needs.
How long does it take to walk from florence to siena? do you have a recommended route? as I remember it, the one the bus takes isn't particularly pleasant for walking!

Thanks much for your replies. We're thinking of spending 3 or 4 nights in Siena at the end of the walking tour. (The walking tour is a self-guided tour we found online... through back roads and trails). Is there much to do or see in and around Siena?

hi kiki,
oddly this has just been asked on another thread. IME there is at least a full day of sightseeing in siena itself, plus the possibility of day trips into the countryside and to various hill towns.
these trips would be easier by car, but are possible by bus.
