My French is pretty damn good, even if I say so myself, and I find that the more I learn French, the more I appreciate English.

A French friend, reading Harry Potter in English asked me what "bunk" meant.

Waring, I don't usually correct people's language on here, but just to be contrary: interesant is spelled "intéressant", divers should be in the feminine/plural (diverses) and I'd probably use avis rather than opinion (in which case divers would be correct).

Are you sure about "Il N'y a pas mal de gens"? Surely that would change the meaning of the sentence.(?)

I appreciate being corrected, however I try and avoid writing French as much as I can.

Remember "ne pas"? I know everybody (almost) skip the "ne" now but they should add it. It is best to write it even if you don't say it... (am I clear?)

But

"Pas mal de personnes croient que...."

Both are correct, it is because you used "il y a" at the beginning of the sentence. If you write "pas mal de gens", you'll need to ad a verb in your sentence.

In the first case "mal" is an adjective : il n'est pas mal = il n'est pas mauvais.
In the second (pas mal) it is an adverb or rather a "locution adverbiale".
