Read that taxis can accommodate only 3 passengers and luggage. Anyone have a favorite shuttle service that could handle 4 adults and luggage? Don't want to spend an arm and a leg but doesn't have to be the cheapest. Just reliable, trustworthy and efficient.

Where did you read that?

There are van sized taxis. You won't have any trouble taking a taxi from CDG

That was 25 years ago. Taxis come in all sizes now, and there are flat fares from CDG to both the Right and Left Banks. Just get in line and you will be directed to a taxi of an appropriate size.

And many cabs accept credit cards.

Some cannot take four, but you can certainly specify to the head of the taxi queue who does the triaging what you need. Some are big enough and can. I think there is a slight surcharge for the fourth person, though.

ruwithme: Just an FYI . . . your sister did not 'use' (if you mean ride with them) them and neither will you. Viator is simply a reseller of tours from other companies. That shuttle you linked is someone else and Viator is just a middle man selling you a voucher.

My sister had a pleasant experience and did not cost any more than a taxi. She did 'book' thru viator (cdg to her hotel). Unfortunately her return trip to the airport was not as pleasant via taxi, as the driver could not accept her credit card because his system was not working.

ruwithme never said her sister used Viator as a shuttle, he/she said she used that service and showed the link. Which IS exactly what she did, she used the service on the link. And she did actually "use" Viator.

I don't understand that particular posters' obsession of pointing out Viator is a website aggregator as many other websites are also (ie, booking.com, hotels.,com etc), and why the need to chastise people for saying they used Viator even when what they said was correct, as in this case. I suppose a few poeple think Viator is the actually company running things but most are not as in this case (and even if they did, so what). This apparent dislike of Viator is getting tiresome.

Well, I checked Viator's rate for 4 people yesterday, and it was 72€. That's more than 20% more than the cost of a taxi ride (which is slightly different depending on whether you're going to or coming from the Left Bank or the Right Bank).

There is no extra charge for a 4th passenger. The extra charges begin with 5 or more passengers, and the cost is 4€ per extra person.

It isn't an obsession . . . really isn't Christina. Honest. I couldn't care less one way or the other if people spend more than they need to. However we get posts nearly every single day 'Should we take a Viator tour?' - or - 'We took a Viator guided tour.' . . . and they really do think it is a 'Viator tour'.

I don't 'dislike' Viator at all. One of my relatives has a business that sells masses of tickets through Viator. And [gasp] I've even booked a tour through them a couple of times. But you do pay more and they ARE just a middleman.

If people want to willingly pay too much money, let's just say that it is excellent for the French economy and it will help us to improve their experience even more for their next visit. Of course we will need to push up the prices just a tad to make it even better.

Viator is owned by Trip Advisor. Taxis are 100% French, most being operated by individual owner/drivers.

The difference between Viator and other web services is that using Viator means you´ll pay more than you would otherwise need to pay. It´s like using a travel agent to book a hotel rather than booking one yourself.

Viator is a service for which you pay. Some do not really mind the extra expense. Others find it pointless.
