Should we avoid Paris during 2010 Auto show?

The Paris Auto Show is Oct 2-17. The Paris Fashion show is Sep 29-Oct 7.

We plan to rent an apartment in the 7th Arr. in Paris during October,

Should we wait until Oct 18, or will it not really matter?

Of course, days are shorter, and weather my be worse, if we wait.

We'd appreciate any advice.

Since the 7th is the dead zone of Paris, you will certainly not be bothered there by any "events" that might be happening. Fashion Week happens just about anywhere and for the auto show, all you have to do is avoid the Porte de Versailles.

Why would either of these events affect you? YOu aren't going to the trade shows so what difference does it make. The only difference is that because of these trade shows, you often have to book a hotel far in advance because they get filled up, that's all.

The only impact is that hotels tend to be booked at motor show time.

If you can book your apt - then you won't know the show is on.

Glad I saw this. My husband would love to see the auto show. Is is open to the public? How do you get there? We usually stay in the 2nd although lately we have been advised to stay in the 12th so I'm looking there now.

It may be quite the challenge to find an apartment available in the 7th for October at this late date. Recommend finding an available apartment before booking your airline ticket.

As mentioned, whenever there are big events going on, accommodations are more challenging, but crowds are far smaller at the tourist venues.

Yes, it is open to the public. Wear non-skid shoes, because there is a lot of drool on the floor for some reason.

Metro line 12 goes straight to the entrance at Porte de Versailles.

LOL, kerouac!

I'd go the time that was best for me. There's always something going on in Paris. Late-September,early October, the weather can still be quite warm and the colors are beautiful.

My recommenation would be to shop appartments and air fares, especially if our dates are, indeed flexible.

Note that availability calendars on most apartment websites are NOT kept up to date, so you will be disapppointed with a short list.

The challenge, specially nowadays, is which to book first.

The weather should be the last of your concerns.

We were there the first week of October last year and had really great weather.

Friends there two weeks ago were freezing.
