rather than the hugeness of the museums d'orsay and louvre, why not head for the orangerie - a smaller building but with huge paintings, which those with perhaps failing eyesight might still appreciate. it's open mondays, and is very accessible.
i then think that the tomb of the unknown soldier at l'arc de triomphe might be fitting and then you could head over to les Invalides. all nice and flat and very impressive. you could always add the musee d'orsay at the end if you've got the energy.
after allowances for coffee and toilet breaks [i travelled as a child extensively with a granny so i know about those] that'll probably do. using cabs will make it easier.
