Is is possible to make different listings on different sites for the same apartment? I think so.

Yes, certainly, kerouac, and some, although I believe a small percentage of owners, do. If this refers to the calendar issue, on sites where owners make bookings themselves they could "forget" to update the calendars, thus showing fewer nights than they actually have bookings. VRBO (historically) has been one.

That information was included in a recent interview with the manager of the AirBnB Paris office. I'll have to search for it tomorrow when I have time.

Well seems like we are getting to rational rhetoric, whether it be for or against these short term rentals, it's now a refreshing conversation.

TPAYT- My family just returned from a trip which included 5 nights in Paris. We stayed in a 2 bedroom Paris Perfect apartment in the 7th, with an awesome balcony which includes a fabulous view of the Eiffel Tower. We had good results with Paris Perfect and no complaints.

TPAYT, we have used Paris Perfect in the past, usually off season as we find them more costly than other agencies, but with your budget, you should contact them and se what they can offer.

We did contact Paris Perfect, Guest Apartment,,, and Ala Carte Paris but found nothing to our liking. Yes, I know we are late to the party

Thankfully we are getting a refund on our $600 deposit.
We have now rented the following apt. Around the corner from the original, but no view.

Thanks Christina for the trip advisor website for this apt. For some reason I had trouble finding it.

So far they have been great to work with so we are hoping for the best.

The article I was referring to has been removed. But here's a similar article - Nicolas Ferrary was the manager of the Paris office, but has since left AirBnB.
He did encourage clients to use other websites and their calendars, which are easier to manipulate.

cafegoddess, it is as pictured. A lovely place to stay in Paris. We also rented in Bordeaux from their sister company. We were very satisfied with both apartments and all dealings with the companies.

Lot of sq footage, they could have given that kitchen a little of the space. It is in your area that you like so a plus there. So sorry you didn't get your terrace.

I've also stayed twice in the apartment cmcfong referenced. It was exactly as described and a great rental.

I must add------this is our 7th apt on ISL. The only one that had a view was the one that was cancelled. It was above our budget, but Oh that view. And last year when we rented it, we were again "very late to the party" and MDH said "We're paying WHAT!" This year we agreed to spend more just "for that view."

The service was excellent and when we return to Paris, and we will, we hope to stay there again.

Why ISL? There are so many lovely areas of Paris but this is the place we like to be. We've stayed near Montparnasse twice, the Odeon, the Marais, St. Severin, and several left bank areas. The worst--The Marais, the best--ISL. Enough said.

Was Le Marais the worst because of the location or the apartment?

No, just the general area was not to our taste. Although The Pompidou. Place Vosges, & The Carnavalet were definitely worth a visit.

TPAYT - technically, Ile Saint-Louis and Ile de la Cite are both considered a part of the Marais
But anyone who lives there considers that the islands are definitely not part of the "mainland".

Actually, only part of Ile de la Cité is in the Marais. The western part is in the 1st arrondissement and falls in the zone of the Louvre.

Anyway, arrondissements 1-2-3-4 are being merged by the city and even though the original boundaries will be remembered for many years, they will fade away in the minds of the younger generation, just as the Marais continues to change shape like an amoeba over the 3rd and 4th arrondissements since it isn't an official administrative denomination (nor are Montmartre or the Latin Quarter or Montparnasse, for that matter), and the debate of what is or is not part of the Marais can fuel many dinner conversations among Parisians.
