Well, I've been many times and that still seems low to me. A'dam has become ridiculously expensive in recent years. Better to stay in Haarlem or somewhere else affordable within a short train ride - also far less risk of being mowed down by bikes and trams.

Just go to a general website like hotels dot com or booking dot com and enter your dates and your criteria. That will get your started. Have a map nearby to check for if what they list as "central" really is.
And are you certain you really want to stay in city center?? It's awfully hectic and not particularly picturesque in Amsterdam around the train station, RLD, the Dam, etc. Much nicer in the canal rings, Vondelpark, Leidseplein, Jordaan, etc.

However, once again I point to Pension Homeland. Great, quiet, green, very central location, very reasonable prices and they've got a great restaurant on site.

The thing about Pension Homeland -- it really does depend on when . . . it is VERY popular and does book up well in advance.
Unfortunately the OP seems to be a man of few words and doesn't tell us dates, single/double/triple, or anything else.
In any case, . . . booking.com is your friend . . .

Several years ago I stayed in the Vondel Hotel, I thought it was good back then and looking at reviews now, seems it is still good, looks more modern inside now than I remember. Rates early November are well within OPs budget inc breakfast, assuming it’s for a single. Is it modern & central enough for you?

I looked on their website: still pretty available in november, but as you say, it does fill up fast
