@ticalinda - you can call Whathello whatever names you like, but what does that have to do with the fact that living in the US is (much) more dangerous, in terms of gun violence, than living in Europe?

Whatthello is not a sick weirdo( i have met him and he is in fact very nice) but he speaks bluntly . Also , while his english is in fact excellant , feelings do not translate well in text when one is working in a second( or perhapsmthird or fourth language) the nuances can be missed.

So the facts do support you are safer from gun injury in Europe then in States.

And i did make a thread about this, but you have likely heard, " you are more likely to die in a car accident then from a terrorsit atrack" This was sadly proved true this past week when a young lady who survived the Boston Marathon Attack, just died in a car accident.

I concur that whathello is a lovely person, and I have met him too. English is probably his 3rd language, so cut him some slack. How many languages do you speak?

Go ahead and mock the safety issues in Europe as compared to the USA, but nothing will change the truth. Americans are madmen with guns in plenty of places. That just doesn't happen here. Do you know how many gun deaths there are each and every day in the USA? It's madness. And no, we do not have that here in Europe, and thank God for that.

Newbe is just jealous and can't help herself from posting about us living in France now. Tant pis. Live with it.

@StCirq I asked respectfully from the very start, I have NOT MOCKED anything or anybody in my whole entire threat. I asked a simple question and expected a simple answer. On the other hand, I have been bashed just because I am an American...while I feel very safe wherever I go, I turned to Fodorites for advice (the nice kind I once encountered) and I hit the wall...
BTW, I only speak two languages...FLUENTLY and I know in both languages if my postings are appropriate or not...otherwise I should keep my comments to myself if I don’t know if I will hurt someone....not my nature!

@ticalinda:

First, you don't "own" this thread, it's a public discussion.

Second, I was responding to your OTT response to Whathello.

Third, whether the US is more or less dangerous than Europe is highly relevant to your question, and gun deaths are poised to surpass automobile deaths in the US.

The simple answer? No one can predict the next terrorist attack. The odds that you will be involved in one in the US or Europe are vanishingly small. Otherwise, you are safer from physical violence in Europe.

Whoa - "sick weirdo" what was that for? Blatant name calling for no good reason that I can see. By a school teacher. Nice.

The shameful fact is that the US is much more dangerous than most if not all of Europe. "Sick weirdo" - that's what we have, people opening fire on strangers in schools, movie theatres, churches, etc. We suffer from acts of terrorism way more often here than in Europe, it's just domestic terrorism. It's no less deadly.

In general you are more safe in Rome than anywhere in the US.

Thanks Limmy.
Thanks Thursday.

Tic - I hope you at least you saw you can come safely to Europe.

The sick weirdos like me don't own a gun. Not even a shotgun. Not allowed...
