I can't really help with Forfar. Try the Boat Inn in Aboyne; the Auchendean at Dulnain Bridge, and the Heatherbrae at Nethybridge near Grantown.

Broadford doesn't ring any bells, but Cafe Arriba in Portree is very good as is the cafe at the Community Centre. I like the Eilean Iarmain for food as well as for lodging.

In Oban, you're basically talking fish. Eeusk gets a great name and I read a super review of the Waterfront at the weekend.

In South lanrak, I believe they make soup from eye of newt and toe of frog.

I can confirm that Eeusk is a good fish restaurant. We had a great meal there last year.
When in Oban visit the chocolate factory too. Have a cup of coffee and a tasting plate a selection of their delicious chocolates. Mmmm.

Just look for restaurants anywhere on Skye - Broadford is not really a town or "destination". You'll probably get your petrol there - but not any meals except breakfast (assuming you are staying in a B&B there)

May be a bit late, but when we stayed in Broadford, we ate at the Harbour, where we had a three course prix fixe dinner at ₤16 each. We could walk there easily from our B&B. It's not a fancy place, but the food was good, with a lot made from local sources.

Here's what I said about a restaurant in Oban:

That evening we ate at a fish restaurant (EE-USK at the North Pier--http://www.eeusk.com/) where we had a very good fish dinner ($113) starting with unforgettable plump and very cold oysters, probably the best we’ve ever had.

We ate at two different restaurants in Broadford when we were there in 2006. I don't remember the name of one of them. The nameless one was in the process of being refurbished (new entranceway, etc.) and was right on the corner of the main road through Broadford and the road to Elgol. I don't recall the food being anything special there. The other was the Claymore on the main road a little to the South/East IIRC. I remember the food being a little bit better there.

Like others said, you may want to travel farther afield than Broadford. The best meal I had in Scotland was at the Three Chimneys, in Colbost, about a half hour's drive away from there. Also great food was at the Lodge at Edinbane, probably only 20 minutes away.

We had very basic but very tasty pies at the Craig Bar in Grantown-on-Spey in June. The owners are true characters! They don't make the pies themselves (ordered from Bristol) but they are all tasty. You can check out the pies at www.pieminister.com

Thanks to everyone for all their recommendations. We will be leaving in 3 weeks and are so ready to go where it is cooler and wetter. I live in Texas and this summer we have hit record highs and severe drought.
We will be in Edinburgh August 22nd through August 24th and staying at a small hotel 4 or 5 blocks north of the castle in New Town. Do you have any recommendations for lunch or dinner? Good food but not expensive and will we need to make reservations?

We had a great dinner at Khushi's, an Indian restaurant on Victoria Street (Grassmarket). It's just a block away from the Royal Mile, great food.

PHayden, you will not have to make reservations at lunch, but I'd recommend it for dinner. You're right in the middle of the Festival and everyone will be scheduled to eat to fit their shows.

There are so many recommendations on here for restaurants in Edinburgh, it would be redundant to add more. Click on my, Caroline's on janis's names and check out our history on the subject. Simply to add that we ate in Iris on Thistle Street a couple of weeks ago. It's new and it was nice.
