Not that I'm picky but Borders is Scotland. Cumbria is England. I'm sure it's lovely tho'

Ednam House is wonderful!!! Leaving soon for another visit. Friendly, beautiful grounds, lovely town, a great spot for exploring the Borders. GOOD FOOD, too!

In Berwick upon Tweed is the Marshall Meadows Country House---one of the few hotels in that area. Trains leave hourly for Waverley in Edinburgh and it's a two stop ride. Very good food at the hotel which is out in the country a bit, but an easy taxi ride to the train station.

All three are WONDERFUL. No one has yet mentioned Sunlaws - it is widely rated as one of the best country hose hotels in all of Scotland.<BR><BR>If you are looking in these up-market price ranges you can't go wrong with any of the 3. BUT you can find very nice places for much less.
